Vegan Diet: Reasons to Go Vegan
Maybe you stumbled upon this page because you’ve been dabbling in veganism or maybe it’s even a sign from the universe. Either way, I’m not telling you that you NEED to go vegan whatsoever or I think you’re any more or less of a person if you eat meat and dairy products. I’m just simply sharing a few of the many reasons to go on vegan and the benefits that come with it. The most common question I get asked as a vegan is “what made me go vegan” and my answer is “for the many benefits.” I was initially a vegetarian and decided to take the plunge a few months ago to veganism—and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
Vegan Diet: Reasons to Go Vegan
Here are the reasons to go on a vegan diet.
Reduce Your Environmental Impact
One of the most impactful ways to help the environment is to eliminate dairy and meat from your diet. Between livestock being a massive contributor to deforestation to cows releasing a significant amount of methane into the environment daily, the meat and dairy industry is detrimental to the environment. In fact, animal agriculture is responsible for around 14% to 18% of human-caused greenhouse gas emission (that’s more than the emissions from transportation!).
Health Benefits
Studies have shown that vegans typically have lower levels of blood pressure and cholesterol, a lower body mass index, and a lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancers.
Animals Welfare
Going vegan means you’re not consuming any living creature that could have been very well suffering. This is the reason why I don’t see a cheeseburger and drool—I for sure see it in a different light now.
Clearer Skin
One of the main reasons that urged me to eliminate dairy from diet was for skin reasons. I could swear that at least one inflamed pimple would appear soon after consuming dairy. Studies have shown that dairy can trigger acne for some people.
