Ways to Overcome Anxiety And Stress

 

 

Do you know that approximately 40 million people in the U.S. suffers from anxiety at some point of their life? You are not alone! When we experience stress, fear, or a traumatic experience, we tend to suffer with anxiety. To be honest, I can feel anxious at times and not even feel the deep root cause of it. The importance of it all is to control your anxiety before it take over your life—we can do this by restoring our well-being and reducing our stresses. Here are some of my ways that has helped me overcome my anxiety!

 

Ways to Overcome Anxiety and Stress

 

 

Listen to soothing instrumental music

Lay down in a quiet place, close your eyes, and listen to some soft, instrumental music. Try to listen to music that includes soothing sounds such as the piano, flute, bells, violin, guitar, pads, light drums, flute, and bells. Be grateful in the moment. Be grateful to be in that moment. These type of sounds will ensure to give you an inner peace. This is one of my favorites.

 

 

Coloring in an adult coloring book

If you enjoyed coloring as a child, coloring in an adult coloring book with most likely work for you. Studies have shown that coloring relaxes the brain and allows us to put our attention in the present moment as oppose to on our thoughts. Focus on coloring in the lines and what colors you will be using in each area of the drawing.

Get out and enjoy nature

Talk a walk or lay on the grass and allow your senses to take over. Focus on what you see, smell, hear, and feel—listen to the birds chirping and the brisk wind touch your cheeks. Try laying on a blanket and watch the clouds pass by. If you live near a waterfall or beach, spend some time there and focus on the peaceful sounds of the water falling and crashing.

 

Exercise

Run/ jog around your neighborhood or head to the gym and lift some weights. Even better, try doing some yoga. Yoga is wonderful for anxiety because it combines controlled breathing, meditation, and physical poses.

  • I enjoy instrumental music. It’s all I listen to when I work to help with stress, mostly movie soundtracks. And if I really need it, I take my boys out for a walk so we can all get out in nature and get exercise at the same time. It really helps some days!

  • Over the years I have realized that drinking herbal tea and listening to my favorite music has been really therapeutic. Off lately after I started exercising rather regularly I have seen that this has been helping me too.

  • I have some anxiety and I enjoy coloring and tea to de-stress as well. I also love lighting a candle and having a nice warm bath while reading.

  • I suffer from severe, debilitating anxiety and it can completely shut me down in just a few minutes. I have found so many essential oils that truly help relieve it. Do they take it all away? Not every time but they help sooooo much I am so thankful to them. I also try to watch a movie or video too.

  • I have severe anxiety so I have medication, however these kinds of things do take the edge off on my good days where I’m anxious but not in a bad state! I also like colouring app and listening to audiobooks but on the slowest speed. Great post!

  • I had no idea so many people suffered from anxiety! I had a problem with anxiety after having my first baby. I was alone in a distant country and I felt very lonely, I had a complicated birth and felt terribly weak. Plus all the normal things when you have a newborn: lack of sleep, poor/bad nutrition, lack of exercise. It was awful! I felt I was never going to make it. However, I did it, and it was without much help from anyone, I’d say it was despite other people’s negativity. I centred my attention on myself and my baby. The power of prayer and will helped me out.
